Comparison

You already own the sensors. Stop renting the insights.

Whoop, Bevel, Athlytic, Sonar and Livity all read the same handful of signals — HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, activity. Most of them charge you every year for the privilege, and most of them upload your data to their servers to do it. Metrya reads the same signals from Apple Health, costs $12.99 once, and never sends your health data anywhere.

Same wrist, same data, wildly different bill. Subscription prices below are list prices for the paid tier as published in July 2026.

Metrya Pro

Fair warning on the AI: Metrya's AI Advisor runs on your own API key, so heavy use adds a few dollars a month paid directly to Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. Typical daily use lands well under $2/month, and everything that doesn't need AI — recovery, Reserve, biological age, Longevity Signals, anomaly alerts — costs nothing to run. How BYOK works →

Deep dives

One-on-one comparisons

The honest version of each match-up — including the cases where the other app is the better buy.

Why Metrya

Four things nobody else on this page does

Not "we do it better" — structurally different choices that the subscription model can't make.

Your data never leaves the phone
Metrya has no health backend. Not "encrypted at rest" — genuinely absent. Recovery, Reserve, biological age and Longevity Signals are all computed on-device. There is no account, no sync, and no server that could be breached, sold or subpoenaed, because there is no server.
You bring your own AI key
Every other app bundles AI into the subscription, which means you pay their markup and use their model. Metrya lets you paste in your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini key — you're billed by the provider at cost, you pick the model, and you can switch any time. How BYOK works →
Body Vision transformation coaching
Add a goal photo and a current photo. AI reads both against your scale, sleep and training data to give you a body-composition baseline, an honest timeline, and a plan — then tracks weekly check-in photos against it. No other app on this page does photo-based coaching.
Reserve — an energy battery that's honest
A 0–100 battery seeded each morning by your overnight recovery, then drained and recharged hour by hour by what you actually did. Every point moved is labelled with its real cause — no invented narratives. And it's free, not a Pro feature. Read the explainer →
Straight answer

When you should not pick Metrya

Metrya is the wrong choice if…

  • You don't own an Apple Watch, Oura, Garmin, Withings or another HealthKit-connected wearable. Metrya reads data — it doesn't generate it. Whoop sells you the sensor as part of the price, and that's a real advantage if you have nothing on your wrist.
  • You want 24/7 continuous strain tracking from a band designed to be worn in the shower and in bed for weeks between charges. An Apple Watch has to come off sometimes; a Whoop mostly doesn't.
  • You're on Android. Metrya is iPhone-only because it's built directly on Apple HealthKit.
  • You want a human coach, a community, or competitive team features. Metrya is a private tool, not a social platform.
  • You'd rather never think about an API key. BYOK takes about three minutes to set up, but it is three minutes more than typing a credit card number — and if that friction bothers you, a bundled subscription is a legitimate preference.

Everything Metrya does that doesn't need AI — the dashboard, recovery, Reserve, biological age, Longevity Signals and anomaly alerts — works with no key at all. So you can download it free, use it for a month alongside whatever you pay for now, and see whether the subscription is still earning its place.

FAQ

Switching questions

Is Metrya really a one-time purchase?
Yes. Metrya Pro is a single non-consumable in-app purchase at $12.99 — no recurring billing, and every future Pro feature is included at no extra charge. The only ongoing cost is optional AI usage, billed directly to you by your AI provider at their published rates with no markup from us.
Can Metrya replace my Whoop band?
If you already wear an Apple Watch, Oura ring, Garmin or Withings device, then largely yes — Metrya reads the same underlying signals (HRV, resting heart rate, sleep stages, respiratory rate, SpO₂) from Apple Health and builds recovery, energy and longevity scores from them. If you own no other wearable, Whoop's band is doing something Metrya can't: generating the data in the first place. Full Whoop comparison →
Do I lose my history if I switch?
Your Apple Health history stays in Apple Health, and Metrya reads it retroactively — so scores and trends can be computed from data you recorded long before you installed Metrya. History held privately inside a competitor's own cloud (rather than written back to HealthKit) generally doesn't transfer; check whether your current app writes its metrics to Apple Health before you cancel.
What does the AI actually cost me per month?
It depends on the model you choose and how much you ask. Typical daily use with a current mid-tier model lands well under $2/month, and you set your own spending limits in your provider's dashboard. Everything non-AI in Metrya costs nothing to run. See the BYOK guide →
Why should I trust that the data stays on-device?
Because there is nowhere for it to go — Metrya operates no health backend at all. The app requires no account and no login, which is itself the tell: an app that syncs your health data would need somewhere to sync it to. When you use the AI Advisor, the relevant slice of data goes from your phone straight to the AI provider you chose, using your key. Read the privacy policy →
Is Metrya a medical device?
No. Metrya is a data analysis and wellness tool, not a medical device, and neither are the other apps on this page. It helps you understand patterns in your own data. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
